PROCESS ENGINEER / PROJECT MANAGER
(Vancouver, BC)

BioteQ Environmental Technologies Inc. is an industrial water treatment company that applies innovative technologies and operating expertise to solve challenging water treatment problems for global leaders in the resource and power generation industries. BioteQ is looking for an experienced Process Engineer to be a Project Manager overseeing the design, construction, and start-up of its water treatment plants. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute throughout the project life cycle, from the initial conception stage through to operations. Because BioteQ both designs and operates its water treatment plants, the engineering team gains on-the-ground experience in processes that are proven to work in the field.

The ideal candidate has work experience in design-build of chemical process plants as well as experience managing small- to medium-sized engineering projects. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Process Engineer / Project Manager will play a meaningful role in applying a series of new cutting edge technologies that provide solutions to industrial water treatment challenges.

The Process Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of projects including ensuring that the project team meets schedule, budget, quality and safety requirements. The successful candidate will prepare project plans, manage project budgets and schedules as well as be involved in detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication of equipment and commissioning of plants. The Process Engineer / Project Manager may also be responsible for preparation of mass and enthalpy balances, PFD’s and P&ID’s, in addition to equipment sizing and specification, safety aspects of plant design, participation in Hazops, and equipment procurement.

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Engineer (or eligible for registration in BC)
  • 5 – 8 years design and project experience in one or more of the following fields: chemical processing, wastewater treatment, mineral/hydrometallurgical processing, and pulp & paper
  • Strong project administration skills including project planning, budgeting, scheduling and cost control
  • Ability to effectively lead technical teams, builds credibility and trust
  • Understands, supports and communicates effectively with clients/stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and ability to effectively facilitate team and client meetings
  • Strong background in process chemistry
  • Pro-active, collaborative, and results-driven
  • Experience in plant operation and detailed design including mechanical, piping, and electrical are assets
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (up to 4 week assignment) multiple times per year
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
