BioteQ Environmental Technologies Inc. is an expanding company providing innovative design-build-own-operate solutions in the wastewater treatment to industry worldwide. BioteQ is looking for an Industrial Water Treatment Plant Operator for a water treatment plant in a northern Canadian mine. The operating season begins in July and is expected to last approximately 3 months, with travel to and from the remote site on a 2 week in and 2 week out rotation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all of the tasks around the plant including calculating reagent additions and process parameters, reagent mixing, and routine maintenance of equipment.
This role would be great for a seasoned water treatment operator or it could be an excellent way for a junior engineer to gain valuable hands-on operations experience in an environmental field.
Qualifications
- Plant operations experience, ideally in industrial wastewater treatment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic knowledge of process chemistry
- Pro-active team player
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Computer skills including proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Valid drivers license
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR
- Forklift experience / ticket
- Ability to travel regularly and work shifts including night shifts
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Responsibilities
- Promote a high standard of safety and environment
- Ensure that the plant operates in compliance with regulations and corporate policies including health, safety and environment
- Ensure that production targets are met by operating and maintaining all aspects of the water treatment plant effectively, including but not limited to:
- Data collection and entry;
- Reagent mixing and pump calibration;
- Lab duties: collecting samples & assaying; and/or
- General housekeeping
